Cobwebbing a difference equation

This applet performs iteration and produces cobweb diagrams for a first-order difference equation x_n+1 = g(x_n).

Enter the function g(x) in the box, and choose an initial condition x₀ by dragging the point on the x-axis or typing a value in the textbox.

Click ‘Iterate’ to perform the next step in the cobwebbing.

Zoom and move the view using the buttons at the right, or hold ‘Shift’ and click & drag in an empty region.

You can click ‘Reset’ to delete the cobwebs, or enable ‘Show details’ to see the cobwebbing process step-by-step.
